Hi Colleagues!

I'm from Poland. Alfa Romeo fan of course.
I came to Romania with my wife to visit your beautiful country and it was a big pleasure till...
Well, just before Constanta we have stopped for a moment, after which our Alfa Romeo GT 1.9 JTD did not restart. We called for assistance, which took us to the car service. In short, the battery was dead and it was replaced, but the engine still did not move. Next step, the electromotor was replaced, but the problem remained. At this point the engine is out of the car and since more than two days the mechanics are looking for a cause. There is probably something wrong with electricity, but they still do not know. We are almost a week in Constanta and we are waiting for a car. We are worried because we live 1400km from here and we have to repair the car on place... Is there anyone from you with Constanta who knows this model well and could give any advise to mechanics or to me what to do? I will add that the car service is on strada Oborului 38. You can write also email to me: kazimierzmrowka@gmail.com.
I will be grateful for your help.
Casimir

I think there are a couple of good mechanics there, active here on forum as well. Hope they or somebody from Constanta will see this post and help you. Unfortunately during weekend people is not very active on forum as, you know, summer, weekends, holidays... So you might need to wait a bit until Monday or so...

Thank you for your response.

BTW I'm glad to discover the Romanian forum of Alfa Romeo.

Hy, Casimir! First of all, sorry to hear you're in trouble.
It's a long shot, but try to call Marius, a mechanic from Constanta. He has not been active on the forum for a while now and I'm not really sure if he does repairs nowadays, but he might give you some advice and guide those "skilled" mechanics.
He's last known phone number is 0040721654522

It might be the crankshaft sensor. It's not very expensive and changing it should be something like 10-15 minutes.

Thank you very much for your answer.

I hope the mechanics have tested this as one of the first possible causes of the car's failure.
But who knows?

I've sent a text message to Marius because he does not answer the phone.

Why is the engine out?

As a matter of fact... I don't know...

So: you returned to your car, turned the key and it did not crank. Replace the battery, still doesn't crank. Replace the starter motor, now it cranks but won't start. So, next logical step is to get the engine out?
Do they read any codes? Did they use any code reader, as a matter of fact?

I have no idea.
My conversation with men from that car service is poor.

I am on the terra incognita for me.
That's why I am here and I'm looking for someone competent in Constanta or a good car service there.

Mate, what service is that, how did you get there? I checked the map and that’s not where the Alfa Romeo service is in Constanta. Is the service name Auto K9? Please confirm!
How can we reach you? Do you use Whatsapp?

Hi,

the car is repaired!

The problem was very simple, namely the alternator's failure.
Servicemen checked only the belt, but not the part itself. And they ended with a brainchild to remove the engine, which just made me fear that the failure was serious.

Thanks for all your good words.
Tomorrow morning we are moving on our way...

I will write here after returning to Poland.

Regards!
