Post subject:  Where to buy a car battery on early Saturday morning

We were ready to go on a trip tonight, but no, my battery died :samui:

Although, it was about time, it's 3 years old if I remember correctly (the previous owner could've installed it back in 2013 when he got the car).

Anyway, I located the dimensions and the approximate model I need (I couldn't verify it against my own battery, but I believe I have 242x175x175 battery, because the strap is loose a bit.

I would go for 242x175x190 this time, should give me slightly more power (63 vs 61Ah and 610 vs 600A) for 15 lei more.

I saw that eMag has Bosch S5 for 303 lei and Varta D15 for 328 lei. We'll call them in the morning, but chances are that they don't have them in stock, as they are sold by some other companies through eMag, so I was wondering if you know where can I buy the battery on Saturday morning :)

I went through their website now, they don't have any car batteries.

They do. Visit their actual store in the morning.
In fact, any super/hyper market stock car batteries.

You can try Dedeman as well, if you're going to Carrefour in Șagului and if you have a little time to shop around, Promotor is also nearby.

I'd look for a beafier S5, there are 74 or 77 Ah versions.

Thanks guys

Checked out Dedeman already, only S4 was shown. Might be the symptom of un-updated website, like with Promotor :)

The more powerful version of S5 is also bigger (278x175x190), so it's almost 4cm longer than what GT can hold. Alfa 156 should be OK with these bigger ones, but 147/GT unfortunately not.

Btw, I've found that Octali sells Rombat Premier with more power in the same pack and with 36 months of warranty.
According to their price list specs are

Ac.12Vx 65Ah Premier 242/175/190 640A 36luni 320lei

Does anyone have experience with Rombat's Premier?

I buyed one in the spring of 2013.
It was on my Fiat Stilo and now it is on my Fiat Bravo and still working very well.
It's a good battery.

I think Selgros and Metro are the opening at 6 a.m.. But they require a costumer card.

I stand corrected, GT can hold 278x175x190 batteries, it turns out my old one was 278x175x175, so I went to Octali and got Rombat's Premier 75Ah 750A for 338 lei (with the 10% discount from giving them the old Banner battery).

Thanks everybody! :clapping:

We bought the same battery for ours back in April and so far it's been great but I've noticed the car struggles on startup ever since the cold weather settled in. With the old Varta we never had that happen, not even at -20°.
Hope yours won't be messing around.

So far so good.I started the car yesterday morning without waiting for the heater to announce it's ok to start, it happened without me thinking, and it started immediately without any hiccups. Tomorrow morning I'll go for that routine within-10-days check to Octali. They told me they want to check if it's charging correctly.

Just a little feedback on the Rombar I mentioned above. Served me well until I had to change it in February 2021. So 3 years and a bit more. I didn't drive the car most of 2020, so that's what killed it most likely. Anyway, got the same one again, so we're good until mid-2024 :)
