With the S-Class Coupe, Mercedes-Benz is introducing an evolution of the MAGIC BODY CONTROL system now featuring a curve tilting function allowing the car to "lean into bends in a manner similar to a motorcyclist or skier. " The function can be active as one of the three driving modes between 19 mph (30 km/h) and 119 mph (180 km/h) and has been designed "to produce a more pleasant motoring experience" by reducing the lateral acceleration felt by the passengers. Within the windscreen there is a stereo camera which detects corners and works together with a transverse acceleration sensor. The air suspension's hydraulic damper units modify the rate of firmness and crucial base point individually for each damper and can incline the body of the car by up to 2.5 degrees.
