Although it hasn't been officially revealed, the Ferrari 458 Monte Carlo is available for order according to a new report.TeamSpeed says the hardcore version of the Ferrari 458 Italia is already available on order at Maranello. Speculation suggests it will be called Monte Carlo (or Challenge Stradale) and will be showcased at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
This piece of information comes from German and Italian members of TeamSpeed who are saying Ferrari has opened the order books, with deliveries expected to commence in early 2014.

Rumors indicated the Monte Carlo, Scuderia or Challenge Stradale monikers but in the end Ferrari decided to opt for the "Speciale" nameplate. The V8 4.5-liter has been reworked and now churns 605 HP (445 kW) at 9,000 rpm and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) at 6,000 rpm. Ferrari says it's the company's most powerful naturally-aspirated V8 engine ever, managing to provide 135 HP (99 kW) per liter which is the highest figure achieved by a road-going naturally-aspirated power unit.

Ferrari says the mysterious owner of this 458 Italia (which remains standard in terms of performance) wanted to make it unique by “paying tribute to one of the happiest and most productive eras in the history of the Scuderia.”

McLaren is allegedly working on a more powerful and lighter version of the 12C to better compete with Ferrari's new 458 Speciale.

Planned to come out later this year, the hardcore 12C is tipped to be quicker than the 458 Speciale and will make use of an improved version of the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine with an output estimated at 650 HP (478 kW). It will utilize the same carbon fiber MonoCell as the regular 12C and will be offered as standard with carbon-ceramic brakes.
